Understanding Diabetic Neuropathy
Diabetic peripheral neuropathy is a type of nerve damage caused by long-term high blood sugar. It commonly affects nerves in the feet and legs, causing symptoms such as burning pain, tingling, “pins and needles,” or numbness—especially at night.
These symptoms can lead to muscle weakness, poor balance, increased risk of foot sores, and even long‑term complications. Current treatments often manage symptoms but don’t always provide lasting relief.
