Interstitial Cystitis/Bladder Pain Syndrome

About the Study

Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome is a long-term problem with the most common symptom being bladder pain with a sudden urge to pee, peeing more often, and/or waking up at night to pee. What causes interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome and how it develops are not well understood. Interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome may begin because of a change in how the bladder allows liquids to pass through it. This change in how the bladder works may be the result of a bacterial infection or contact with other harmful substances which then activates the body’s natural defense response to injury or disease. This leads to the bladder being sensitive and eventually causing interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome symptoms such as pain and pressure

The study will test a new drug that has been developed for treating people with interstitial cystitis/bladder pain syndrome.
